I agree with everything you said, but there has to be a movement for real change. A movement with a clear agenda backed by organizations with a vision for the future. Outside of DSA, I don't see any. Indivisible has become indistinguishable from the Democratic Party to the point where I now receive email blasts from the local Democratic Party and Indivisible at the same time and they look identical. The other movement organizations are merely reactive. They are antifascist but have no program for change or a vision for the future.

I still don't understand why everyone in the media somehow assumed this only concerned the first Trump administration - and even less why Biden made the same assumption. He should have run with it.
One thing that might contain Democrat presidents from implementing a truly progressive agenda is the fact that militias would scheme terrorist actions to fight against them. Now the same people just join ICE.

This thesis seems to discount the possibility that there was at least a modicum of decency and a layer of respect for the rule of law during the Obama administration. The subsequent erosion of this now provides a bedrock of under footing from which to launch.
This seems incredibly naive to believe, given all the lack of respect for “rule of law” when it came to droning citizens, domestic spying by revealed by Snowden, etc. That “respect” conveniently showed up to excuse lack of action on concrete material benefits for the masses, or limitations on the powerful (as in dark money, etc.).
I think we see things more similarly than differently? Mine is a comment that addresses/compares administrations. Words like modicum and layer are intentional as descriptors of the difference, and reflect that there is not blindness or "incredible naivety" in my study.
No administration is perfect. All are far from it. Its just a question of the distance from ideal, kind of like Venus being a long way from the sun and Neptune being a lot further. Given my tendency towards hope I try to find relative good, which is another way of saying relative less bad. I like that I see possible positive even in the negative.
Everyone shows respect for rule of law when it isn’t any obstacle for what you want to do. Either you really actually have it, in which case you don’t ignore it when inconvenient, or you’re just blowing smoke whenever you say nice words about it. Even the current administration is fine with rule of law when it is useful to them.
